When Gavrilo Princip finished his sandwich and walked outside of the delicatessen in Sarajevo, he noticed the car carrying Archduke Franz Ferdinand. This is the same car and the same Archduke that moments ago avoided an assassination attempt when a grenade was launched at his motorcade. Here he was again. The driver was lost, he missed a turn - he stops, he reverses, he stalls - the car and its contents are presented on a silver platter for a second time in the same day, a cosmic sitting duck. Gavrilo pulls out his Browning semi-automatic pistol and fires two shots killing the Archduke and his wife. We had been oppressed for hundreds of years, foreign flags flew on our land for hundreds of years, but no more. The fateful turn of the car and the fateful pandemonium. Gavrilo was 19 years old.

Gavrilo's Turn can be seen as a turn for the better or for the worse, depending on which side of the motorcade you stand.
