Mostar Sevdah Reunion playing the Sevdalinka Sinoć sam ti Safo dvoru dolazio (Last night, Safa, I came to your garden) with instruments

Last night, Safa,

I came to your garden and

left a rose on your windowsill

To adorn your bosom,

more beautiful than a jasmine

if you still love me,

my only joy -

This morning when I saw you

Safa, my fairy,

on your breast

there was no rose

Instead of my flower,

on my mother’s life,

you adorned a hyacinth

from the neighbour, Halil -

Safa, my Safa,

my unfaithful friend,

are hyacinths more beautiful

than roses, darling?

Do you find a nightingale dearer

to a raven?

And fake pearls

to jewels?
